Day Twenty Three - The Last Person I Kissed

You are my hero :')

And to some of my friends who are my heroines!

One small stumble and your business will tumble.
Mess with the wrong guy and your patrons will fly.
 愛をこめて、 ダーク.ゆみ。
After all, bad news spread like wild fire doesn't it.

P.S. In dark mode due to fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Suspecting the soup that gave me food poisoning. Be weary future patrons. Thread carefully or you will end up like me.

Bacon, Mushrooms, Onion, Rosemary Angel Hair :D

My take on a decent pasta meal after the Food Foundry fiasco. Not comparing, just saying...

First up!
Slice the mushrooms. I believe in using fresh ones by the carton.
Trust me, it tastes really different. Bought a box of these babies for like RM4+?
Worth every cent! I removed the stems first before slicing to get a nice mushroom shape :)

One large red onion aka shallot. Diced. RM0.28

Half packet of Rosemary herbs. Set the tips aside for garnishing^^
the rest, separate from the stem. RM2+

Angel hair pasta. My favourite type because it's able to pick up
more flavour compared to fettuccine or penne due to its fine texture.
Boil with a pinch of salt; once it's done toss in virgin olive oil
so that the noodles will not clump together and set aside.
Didn't really measure how much I boiled. I just did by feeling.

Now the tough part. I learned this nifty trick from my aunt that if you want crispy bacon,
don't fry them with oil. But WATER. Low to medium heat.

About 2-3 tablespoons of water for 200gm of bacon. My mistake here is that I did not inspect the uniformity of bacon size before dumping everything into the pot^^;; haha! Some are quite huge chunks but it will still cook. Basically, the water will draw out the lard from the bacon and eventually evaporate. If you add oil, the bacon will cook too soon and it won't be as crispy as you want it to be :)

And when adding the mushrooms into the bacon when it's almost done,
make sure it's in high heat or the mushrooms will produce liquid which will make everything soggy!

Mix everything together! Low heat. Toss it in the pan for the
pasta to pick up all the bacon oily goodness xD
I only added the rosemary herbs at this point because I like it fresh with a little bite.

Plate the pasta and rosemary tip on the top and serve with Parmesan cheese!
Serves two very hungry peeps!

Chunky bits in the pasta! :)

To me, the Parmesan is essential because it adds the zing and boosts the overall flavour.
Also because I added very little salt when I cook. My attempt at eating healthy!

If you give this recipe a try, do let me know how it turned out :)

Food Foundry

Contrary to most blogs about this place, this is not going to be a pretty review.

The decor is nice, very simple and cozy looking. There are even crayons on the table with a roll of paper for kids to scribble on. But in this case, my bf used the paper and scribbled "TASTE BAD".

Ice lemon tea. RM3. Ordered this because everything else was like over RM5.
Tastes quite artificial. Doesn't even come with a lemon slice like most decent restaurants.

The brownie is too tough. But the chocolate topping is nice. No ice cream though.
Depending how you like your brownie. This is not for me.

My friend's husband ordered this. He said it's not worth the money. RM19.
Not impressive enough to cost this much.

Eggplant & Shrimp pasta. The gravy is very watery. Not much flavour either.

Duck confit pasta. Same problem. Gravy is not gravy, rather it has the
consistency of Chinese soup.

This is the mushroom soup they charged RM10 for. VERY VERY WATERY.
I don't even taste mushroom and the soup is loaded with pepper.

Up close, my brother (12yrs old) can cook better ><

Even my bf was unhappy with this dish that he returned it to the kitchen,
when it came out it was less watery but still has the same
peppery taste, lacking mushroom flavour.

Ham and cheese croquette. RM11

Nothing special really. I don't even see the ham.
Just like the breaded fried layer outside.

The only thing worth ordering was dessert.

Mango Mille Crepe. This is nice :) very firm and easy to cut, flavours are there.

Selasih Pink Rose Mille Crepe. This was the best order I had during the visit.
RM11 but very worth it.

Conclusion: Just come for dessert and not the main course or appetizers. This place gave us such a bad mood that we went for two good pints of hoegaarden rose beer right after at Brussels

Two pints for RM40 (promo) :D
Very smooth and doesn't taste like beer at all!

Day Twenty Two - Someone I Want To Give A Second Chance To

When all those happened to me. I just wanted to cry and not go to church anymore. Now, I just have the urge to tell God; "Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing."

The atheists are right in some ways. Most Christians are hypocrites; and this one I think even Christians will have to agree with is that going to church doesn't make you a christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Click on the image source and see
what a pastor has to say about hypocrisy :)

Here is a short excerpt from his post: "Eight times in the gospel of St. Matthew Jesus concerns us to not be like the hypocrites or gives of warning of “woe” to the hypocrites.  As we live to point out all the things the Bible says about the lives of the people around us, we need to make sure that we see that Jesus commands us not to be hypocrites. Why?  Because it makes the Kingdom of God look bad and shows a weak Holy Spirit that is unable to change lives.  Why is somebody going to see the need for God if we are acting worse than them?  How are people going to understand the power of God if he cannot even transform the lives of the people that sit in Church Sunday after Sunday?"

How did all these perceptions stem up? For me, I think I'm not the first victim. You gossip behind me, judge unmercifully, and did not even apologize. I almost lost faith in Christianity because of how much I looked up to you. Later only did I realize that you are not my role model, Jesus is.

Mahatma Gandhi did not become a Christian because he did not see any Christian who acts like Jesus. I would have followed his footsteps if it wasn't for my boyfriend who thought me that well... most girls in that church are bitches anyway. What more a female in a profession related to law?

If only you had apologized, I wouldn't have stopped going to that church. Maybe you weren't meant to, if not I wouldn't have found such a wonderful church in Taman Mayang and be blessed with so many new friends who truly showed me what a Christian should be like. But just to be clear, you weren't the only person who made me move away from that church.

Anyways, can't wait to attend your wedding :)

Day Twenty One - Someone I Judged By Their First Impression

To the gummy bear in the office. I used to think that you are a very meticulous person, actually I was wrong. You're just OCD. I also used to think that you are a little kindergarten kid stuck in a grown up's body. I still think so, and I think I'm right :D

"I can't believe I just peed for like 20 seconds, I wonder where all that water came from."
*Senior in the background with speechless face*

And because you are always such a perfectionist I never thought that you're a klutz.
That gave me a shock. And a very good laugh.

"Piranhas really exists?!"
So much for calling me naive. Blek! xD

At first I thought you're quite a loving person.

You are, except that you are pretty sadistic at times.

To be honest, I used to think you had low self esteem when I first met you because you were quite quiet. LOL! I was so so so so so so wrong.

Now I'm bombarded with scratch requests everyday in the office. But I'm happy you made the office a more cheerful place to work in :)
